- GPR173 (also known as SREB3) is a probable G protein-coupled receptor that belongs to the super conserved receptor expressed in brain (SREB) family.
- It functions as a receptor for the SMIM20-derived peptides phoenixin-14 and phoenixin-20, which are involved in reproductive hormone regulation (By similarity).
- Activation of GPR173 by phoenixin peptides augments gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GNRH) signaling in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland (By similarity).

- The receptor is localized to the cell membrane, consistent with its role as a transmembrane transducer.
