  • GNRH2 encodes progonadoliberin-2, a precursor protein that is processed to produce gonadotropin-releasing hormone II (GnRH II). The gene undergoes alternative splicing, generating multiple isoforms.
  • The mature hormone stimulates the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary, playing a central role in reproductive function.
