- The protein γ-Tubulin (Tubulin gamma-1 chain), encoded by the TUBG1 gene, is also known as Gamma-1-tubulin or GCP-1.
- Gamma-tubulin is a key component of the gamma-tubulin ring complex (γTuRC), which regulates minus-end nucleation of alpha-beta tubulin heterodimers into microtubule protofilaments, essential for centrosome duplication and spindle formation.
