- Frizzled-6 (FZD6) is a receptor for Wnt proteins, coupling primarily to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway and potentially involving PKC and calcium flux.
- It plays a role in transduction and intercellular transmission of polarity information during tissue morphogenesis and planar cell polarity (PCP) establishment.
- Together with FZD3, FZD6 is involved in neural tube closure and the orientation of asymmetric stereocilia bundles in inner ear sensory cells (By similarity).
- Subcellularly, FZD6 localizes to the cell membrane, apical cell membrane, cytoplasmic vesicle membrane, and endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
