- FRS2 (Fibroblast growth factor receptor substrate 2), also known as SNT-1, is an adapter protein that links activated FGF and NGF receptors to downstream signaling pathways.
- It plays a critical role in the activation of MAP kinases and the phosphorylation of PIK3R1, the regulatory subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, upon ligand-mediated activation of FGFR1.
- FRS2 modulates signaling via SHC1 by competing for a common binding site on NTRK1.
- It is localized to the endomembrane system.
- Highly expressed in heart, brain, spleen, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, and testis.
- Classified as a lipoprotein and membrane-associated phosphoprotein, with a myristate modification and involvement in ubiquitin conjugation (Ubl conjugation).
