Biological Background: FDX1/ADX Function and Localization
- Adrenodoxin (FDX1/ADX), also known as adrenal ferredoxin or hepatoredoxin, is a mitochondrial [2Fe-2S] ferredoxin that serves as an essential electron transfer protein for cytochrome P450 enzymes involved in steroid hormone biosynthesis.
- Essential for the synthesis of various steroid hormones; transfers electrons from adrenodoxin reductase to CYP11A1, which catalyzes the side-chain cleavage of cholesterol to pregnenolone — the rate-limiting step of steroidogenesis.

- Highest expression is detected in the adrenal gland (at protein level); also present in kidney and testis.

- For ELISA, this polyclonal antibody can be used for capture or detection. Optimization of coating antigen concentration, blocking conditions, and detection antibody pairing is recommended based on the specific assay format.
- This antibody was raised against human FDX1/ADX (aa 1–184) and shows reactivity with human samples. Cross-reactivity with other species has not been determined; verify if intended for non-human applications.
