Biological Background: FBXO4 Function and Localization
- FBXO4, also known as FBX4, is an F-box only protein encoded by the FBXO4 gene.
- It serves as the substrate recognition subunit of a SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex that mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Related references: PMID:10531035, PMID:18598945, PMID:20181953
- FBXO4 promotes the ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of cyclin D1 (CCND1). Related references: PMID:18598945
