- FAM3B, also known as pancreatic-derived factor (PANDER) or cytokine-like protein 2-21, is a secreted cytokine-like protein.
- It induces apoptosis of alpha and beta cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner.
- FAM3B is highly expressed in the pancreas, with additional expression in the colon, kidney, prostate, small intestine, and testis.
- The protein contains a signal peptide, is secreted, and features disulfide bonds and glycosylation.
- Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms of FAM3B.
- It belongs to the FAM3 gene family and has been identified as a lectin.
