- ETV1 (ETS translocation variant 1), also known as ER81, is a member of the ETS family of transcription factors that functions as a transcriptional activator binding to DNA sequences with the consensus 5'-CGGA[AT]-3' (PubMed:7651741). Related references: PMID:7651741
- It is critically required for the differentiation of olfactory dopaminergic neurons, potentially by directly activating the expression of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) (By similarity).
- ETV1 is predominantly localized to the nucleus and is subject to post-translational modifications including phosphorylation and isopeptide bond formation (ubiquitination).
- The protein exhibits tissue-specific expression, with very high levels in brain, high levels in testis, lung, and heart, moderate expression in spleen, small intestine, pancreas, and colon, and weak or absent expression in placenta and peripheral blood leukocytes.
