- Epsin-1 (EPN1), also known as EH domain-binding mitotic phosphoprotein and EPS-15-interacting protein 1, is encoded by the EPN1 gene (GeneID: 29924) and serves as a key adaptor in clathrin-mediated endocytosis.
- The protein binds specifically to membranes enriched in phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns(4,5)P2), inducing curvature and promoting the assembly of clathrin-coated invaginations (By similarity).

- Subcellularly, EPN1 localizes to the cytoplasm, cell membrane, nucleus, and specifically concentrates at clathrin-coated pits, consistent with its endocytic role.
