Biological Background: ENTPD5 Function and Localization

• ENTPD5, also known as CD39L4, NTPDase-5, or PCPH, is a nucleoside diphosphate phosphatase that preferentially hydrolyzes GDP, IDP, and UDP over ADP and CDP (PubMed:10400613, 15698960). Related references: PMID:10400613, PMID:15698960
• In the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), ENTPD5 hydrolyzes UDP to prevent feedback inhibition of UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferases, thereby promoting protein reglucosylation and glycoprotein quality control (By similarity).
