- EML4 is a microtubule-associated protein belonging to the echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like family, also known as Restrictedly overexpressed proliferation-associated protein (Ropp 120).

- Required for the organization of the mitotic spindle, proper kinetochore-MT attachment, and recruitment of NUDC for mitotic progression. Related references: PMID:25789526
- Subcellularly localized to the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, mitotic spindle, microtubule organizing center, and midbody.
- Contains coiled-coil and WD repeat domains and undergoes post-translational modifications including acetylation and phosphorylation.
- Subject to alternative splicing and chromosomal rearrangements, which can generate oncogenic fusion proteins.
