Biological Background: EMC8 Function and Localization
- EMC8 is a subunit of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein complex (EMC) that enables energy-independent insertion of nascent membrane proteins, preferentially accommodating those with weakly hydrophobic or destabilizing transmembrane domains (PubMed:29242231, PubMed:29809151, PubMed:30415835).
