• ELF2 (E74-like factor 2), also designated EU32 and NERF (New ETS-related factor), is a transcription factor encoded by the ELF2 gene.
• Two main isoforms exist: isoform 1 transcriptionally activates the LYN and BLK promoters, acting synergistically with RUNX1; isoform 2 may function in repression of RUNX1-mediated transactivation.
• As a member of the ETS (E26 transformation-specific) family, ELF2 contains a conserved ETS DNA-binding domain that recognizes purine-rich sequences.
• ELF2 is localized to the nucleus, consistent with its role in transcriptional regulation.
• The protein is subject to multiple post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, methylation, and ubiquitination (isopeptide bond formation), which may modulate its activity and stability.
