Biological Background: eIF5A Function and Localization

• eIF5A (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A-1) is a translation factor that promotes translation elongation and termination, particularly upon ribosome stalling at specific amino acid sequence contexts (PubMed:33547280). It binds between the E and P sites of the ribosome and functions in rescuing stalled ribosomes, being specifically required for efficient translation of polyproline-containing peptides (By similarity).
