- EFTUD2, also known as 116 kDa U5 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein component or SNU114 homolog, is a core component of the major and minor spliceosomes. It contains an elongation factor Tu GTP-binding domain, reflecting its evolutionarily conserved role in RNA processing.
- As a component of the U5 snRNP and U4/U6-U5 tri-snRNP complex, EFTUD2 is required for pre-mRNA splicing, participating in pre-catalytic, catalytic, and post-catalytic spliceosomal complexes.
