Biological Background: E-Cadherin Function and Localization
- Cadherin-1 (E-Cadherin, Epithelial cadherin, Uvomorulin, CD324) is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion glycoprotein that mediates homophilic interactions, contributing to epithelial cell sorting and tissue integrity. Related references: PMID:11976333
- E-Cadherin plays a critical role in regulating epithelial cell mobility, proliferation, and acts as a potent invasion suppressor; it also functions as a ligand for integrin αEβ7. Related references: PMID:11976333
