Biological Background: DYNLL1 Function and Localization

  • Component of cytoplasmic dynein 1, a motor protein complex that drives retrograde transport of vesicles and organelles along microtubules.
  • Acts as a non-catalytic accessory subunit linking dynein to cargos and adapter proteins, thereby regulating dynein motor function.

  • Key regulator of the DNA damage response: upon phosphorylation at Ser-88, recruited by TP53BP1 to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) to disrupt MRE11 dimerization and inhibit DNA end resection.
