Biological Background: DNASE1 Function and Localization

• DNASE1 (Deoxyribonuclease I) is a secreted serum endonuclease produced by a variety of exocrine and endocrine organs. It preferentially cleaves protein-free DNA and has been implicated in apoptosis (PubMed:11241278, 2251263, 2277032).

• It specifically binds to G-actin and blocks actin polymerization (By similarity).
