Biological Background: DNAJB1/HSP40 Function and Localization

  • DNAJB1 (DnaJ homolog subfamily B member 1), also known as Hsp40 or Hdj1, is a member of the DnaJ heat shock protein family and functions as a co-chaperone for HSP70, stimulating its ATPase activity. Related references: PMID:14503850

  • It acts as a chaperone adapter together with TTC1, regulating HSP70-dependent protein folding by interacting with the amino terminal region of HSP70. Related references: PMID:14503850

  • DNAJB1 stimulates the association between HSC70 and HIP, further modulating chaperone machinery.
