- DcR1/CD263, encoded by the TNFRSF10C gene, is a tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member also known as TRAIL-R3, LIT, and TRID. It functions as an antagonist decoy receptor for the cytotoxic ligand TRAIL (Apo-2L).
- Unlike the functional TRAIL receptors TNFRSF10A and TNFRSF10B, DcR1 lacks an intracellular death domain. By competing for TRAIL binding, it inhibits apoptosis and protects cells from TRAIL-induced cell death.
