- It plays a critical role in craniofacial development, acting upstream of the EDN1 signaling pathway and required for upper jaw formation (palatoquadrate).
- DCAF7 associates with DIAPH1 and modulates GLI1 transcriptional activity, linking it to Hedgehog signaling.
- It may participate in normal and pathological skin development.
- Localizes to both cytoplasm and nucleus, consistent with its roles in signaling and ubiquitination.
- Belongs to a family of DDB1- and CUL4-associated factors (DCAFs) that mediate substrate specificity in ubiquitin conjugation.
