- Keratin 8 (KRT8) is a type II intermediate filament protein, also known as cytokeratin-8 (CK-8), K8, or CYK8, and is encoded by the KRT8 gene in humans.
- Together with its obligate type I partner KRT18, KRT8 forms heteropolymeric keratin intermediate filaments that provide mechanical stability and resilience to simple epithelial cells. Related references: PMID:26823019
