  • Cold shock domain-containing protein E1 (CSDE1), also known as UNR or NRAS upstream gene protein, is an RNA-binding protein.
  • Functions as an RNA-binding protein implicated in translationally coupled mRNA turnover. Plays a role in the cytoplasmic deadenylation and translational/decay interplay of FOS mRNA mediated by the mCRD domain. Related references: PMID:11051545, PMID:15314026
  • Required for efficient formation of stress granules. Related references: PMID:29395067
  • (Microbial infection) Required for internal initiation of translation of human rhinovirus RNA.
  • Resides primarily in the cytoplasm, also localizes to stress granules and P-bodies.

  • Predicted molecular mass is 88.9 kDa, consistent with the observed protein weight of 89 kDa.
