- CREBZF, also known as ZF, SMILE, or host cell factor-binding transcription factor Zhangfei, is a CREB/ATF bZIP transcription factor encoded by the CREBZF gene in humans.
- It strongly activates transcription when bound to HCFC1 and suppresses HSV protein expression in infected cells via HCFC1.
- CREBZF also inhibits HCFC1-dependent transcriptional activation by CREB3 and reduces CREB3 protein levels, and can down-regulate expression of some cellular genes.
