Biological Background: CR2/CD21 Function and Localization

• Complement receptor type 2 (CR2/CD21) is also known as the C3d receptor and Epstein-Barr virus receptor, encoded by the CR2 gene (GeneID: 1380). It belongs to the regulators of complement activation (RCA) family and is involved in innate immunity and host-virus interactions.
• Functions as a receptor for complement component C3d, HNRNPU, and IFNA1. • For immunofluorescence (IF-P), permeabilization may be required to access the intracellular epitope. Optimize fixation and permeabilization conditions for the specific sample type.
