Biological Background: CPT1A Function and Localization

• CPT1A (carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A) is the liver isoform of CPT I, responsible for the transfer of long-chain fatty acyl groups onto carnitine for mitochondrial beta-oxidation. Related references: PMID:11350182, PMID:14517221, PMID:16651524

• For WB, expect a band around 88 kDa (theoretical molecular weight). Validate band identity with appropriate tissue or cell lysates, such as heart or kidney, which express high levels of CPT1A.
• In IHC-P and IF/ICC, mitochondrial outer membrane localization should be observed. Include mitochondrial markers for co-localization studies if needed.
• This antibody cross-reacts with mouse and rat CPT1A based on sequence homology; however, we recommend verifying species-specific reactivity in your experimental system.
