  • CHTF18 (Chromosome transmission fidelity protein 18 homolog), also known as CHL12, is a key factor in sister chromatid cohesion and ensures accurate chromosome segregation during cell division.
  • It is an integral component of the CTF18-RFC complex (together with CTF8, DCC1, RFC2-5), an alternative PCNA loader that binds primed and single-stranded DNA and exhibits DNA-dependent ATPase activity stimulated by RPA and PCNA.
  • The CTF18-RFC complex catalyzes ATP-dependent loading of PCNA onto gapped and primed DNA, playing a critical role in DNA replication and repair processes.
