Biological Background: Cofilin-1 Function and Localization
- Cofilin-1, encoded by the CFL1 gene, is an 18.5 kDa actin-binding protein that regulates actin dynamics by depolymerizing F-actin in a pH-sensitive manner. Related references: PMID:11812157, PMID:33670794
- In early embryonic development, cofilin-1 works with the subcortical maternal complex to facilitate the first cell divisions and ensures symmetric division of zygotes via actin regulation. Related references: PMID:15580268

- For Western blot, a band around 19 kDa is expected; validate the molecular weight against your sample system and consider using appropriate loading controls.
- In ELISA applications, optimize coating conditions and antibody dilutions empirically to achieve optimal signal-to-noise ratio.
- Given cross-reactivity with mouse and rat, the antibody may be suitable for studies in these species; however, sequence alignment of the immunogen region is advisable to confirm epitope conservation.
