  • Centrin-2 (CETN2), also referred to as caltractin isoform 1, is encoded by the CETN2 gene (alternative names: CALT, CEN2).
  • Plays a fundamental role in microtubule organizing center structure and function; required for centriole duplication, correct spindle formation, and regulating cytokinesis and genome stability via cooperation with CALM1 and CCP110.
  • Acts as a component of the XPC complex in global genome nucleotide excision repair (GG-NER). Together with RAD23B, it stabilizes XPC and stimulates DNA binding of the XPC:RAD23B dimer, initiating recognition of distorted DNA.
