• CDA, also known as cytidine aminohydrolase or CDD, is a cytidine deaminase enzyme encoded by the CDA gene (GeneID: 978) in humans.
• This enzyme plays a critical role in pyrimidine salvage by scavenging exogenous and endogenous cytidine and 2'-deoxycytidine, converting them into uridine and deoxyuridine for UMP synthesis.
• CDA is a zinc-dependent hydrolase, requiring metal binding for catalytic activity.
