Biological Background: CD45 Function and Localization

• CD45, also known as Leukocyte common antigen (L-CA) or T200, is a receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase C encoded by the PTPRC gene.
• Functions as a protein tyrosine phosphatase essential for T-cell activation through the antigen receptor, acting as a positive regulator of T-cell coactivation upon binding to DPP4. Related references: PMID:35767951
• Contains two PTPase domains; the first has enzymatic activity, while the second likely modulates substrate specificity.
• Upon T-cell activation, recruits and dephosphorylates SKAP1 and FYN, and modulates LYN activity through dephosphorylation.
