Biological Background: CD320 Function and Localization
- CD320, also known as 8D6 antigen, FDC-signaling molecule 8D6, or transcobalamin receptor (TCblR), is a transmembrane receptor that binds transcobalamin saturated with cobalamin, mediating crucial cellular uptake of vitamin B12. Related references: PMID:18779389 PMID:20524213
- Expressed on follicular dendritic cells (FDCs), CD320 acts as a costimulatory molecule by interacting with germinal center B cells, promoting B cell proliferation and differentiation into memory B cells and plasma cells. Related references: PMID:10727470 PMID:11418631
