  • Basigin (BSG/CD147/EMMPRIN) is a highly glycosylated transmembrane protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily; multiple isoforms are generated by alternative splicing and promoter usage.

  • The immunogen corresponds to a C-terminal peptide (aa 286-385) of human CD147, which is highly conserved across human, mouse, and rat, consistent with the observed cross-reactivity. Validate reactivity in target species and tissue.
  • For Western blotting (WB), the predicted molecular weight is ~42 kDa, but extensive glycosylation may result in a higher apparent molecular weight (approx. 45–65 kDa). Use appropriate positive controls and consider deglycosylation if needed.
  • In immunohistochemistry (IHC-P), antigen retrieval and blocking steps may significantly impact staining; test with known positive tissues such as melanoma or retinal sections.
  • For immunoprecipitation (IP), optimize antibody-to-lysate ratios and validate elution conditions; note that the target is a membrane protein, so include appropriate detergents.
