Biological Background: Thrombomodulin Function and Localization
- Thrombomodulin (TM; CD141), encoded by the THBD gene, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and receptor expressed primarily on vascular endothelial cells.

- Accelerates activation of carboxypeptidase B2 (CPB2/TAFI), which inhibits fibrinolysis by removing C-terminal basic amino acids from kinins and anaphylatoxins. Related references: PMID:26663133
