Biological Background: CCR6 Function and Localization

• CCR6 (C-C chemokine receptor type 6) functions as a receptor for the chemokine CCL20, triggering intracellular calcium increase and cAMP signaling (PubMed:9169459, PubMed:20068036). Additionally, it binds beta-defensins such as DEFB1, DEFB4, and DEFB4A/B to mediate chemotaxis and bactericidal activity (PubMed:25585877, PubMed:25122636). • The predicted molecular weight of CCR6 is approximately 42 kDa. In Western blot experiments, a band near this size is expected; however, post-translational modifications (e.g., glycosylation) may result in higher apparent molecular weight.
• This antibody has been tested in WB and ELISA with human samples. For other species, cross-reactivity may be limited; validate in the relevant sample system.
• For immunohistochemistry or flow cytometry, note that the antibody may not recognize native epitope due to the peptide immunogen; empirical optimization is advised.
