Biological Background: CCR2 Function and Localization

• C-C chemokine receptor type 2 (CCR2), also known as Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 receptor (MCP-1-R), is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) encoded by the CCR2 gene. Alternative splicing generates isoforms including CCR2A and CCR2B.
• Functions as a key receptor for chemokines CCL2 (MCP-1), CCL7, and CCL12, and transduces signals from CCL13.
