• CCL28 (C-C motif chemokine 28), also known as mucosae-associated epithelial chemokine (MEC), protein CCK1, and small-inducible cytokine A28, is a secreted chemokine encoded by the CCL28 gene.
• It functions as a chemoattractant for resting CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells and eosinophils, binding to receptors CCR3 and CCR10 and inducing dose-dependent calcium mobilization.
• CCL28 belongs to the CC chemokine family, characterized by conserved cysteine residues, and contains a signal peptide and disulfide bonds essential for its structure.
