• CCL22, also known as macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) and stimulated T-cell chemotactic protein 1 (STCP-1), is a secreted CC chemokine involved in immune cell trafficking.
• It plays a role in the recruitment of activated/effector T-lymphocytes to inflammatory sites and is chemotactic for monocytes, dendritic cells, and natural killer cells.
• Acts as a mild chemoattractant for primary activated T-lymphocytes and a potent chemoattractant for chronically activated T-lymphocytes; it has no chemoattractant activity for neutrophils, eosinophils, or resting T-lymphocytes.
