- CAVIN2 (Caveolae-associated protein 2), also known as SDPR, PS-p68, or cavin-2, is a phosphatidylserine-binding protein encoded by the CAVIN2 gene; it belongs to the cavin family of caveolar coat proteins.
- Plays a key role in caveolar biogenesis and morphology by inducing membrane curvature within caveolae, a process essential for caveola formation and stability. Related references: PMID:19525939
- Exhibits tissue-specific regulation: required for caveola formation in lung and fat endothelia but not in heart endothelia; negatively modulates the size or stability of CAVIN complexes in lung endothelial cells.
