Biological Background: Calmodulin-2 Function and Localization
- Calmodulin-2 is a calcium-binding messenger that transduces calcium signals by regulating a broad array of proteins, including protein kinases (myosin light-chain kinases, CaMK2), phosphatases, ion channels, and aquaporins (PubMed:16760425, PubMed:26969752, PubMed:27165696).

- It mediates calcium-dependent inactivation of the L-type calcium channel CACNA1C.

- Required for the arginine ADP-riboxanase activity of bacterial effectors CopC (C.violaceum) and OspC3 (S.flexneri) during infection.
