  • CACNB1 encodes the voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel subunit beta-1, a regulatory subunit that modulates channel gating, trafficking, and surface expression. Related references: PMID:1309651, PMID:15615847, PMID:8107964
  • It is required for functional expression and activity regulation of L-type channels containing pore-forming subunits CACNA1C (PubMed:15615847), CACNA1D (PubMed:1309651), and CACNA1B (PubMed:8107964); regulation of CACNA1A-containing channels is inferred by similarity.
  • Localizes to the cell membrane and sarcolemma, ensuring proper channel clustering at the plasma membrane.
