Biological Background: C19orf10/MYDGF Function and Localization
- C19orf10 encodes myeloid-derived growth factor (MYDGF), a secreted protein also known as IL25, IL27, SF20, and IL27w.
- MYDGF promotes cardiac myocyte survival and adaptive angiogenesis after myocardial infarction (MI). It stimulates endothelial cell proliferation via MAPK1/3, STAT3, and CCND1 signaling and is involved in angiogenesis. Related references: PMID:25581518
- It inhibits cardiac myocyte apoptosis through a PI3K/AKT-dependent pathway (By similarity).
- Subcellularly, MYDGF localizes to the secretory pathway: secreted, endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus.
