Biological Background: BMAL1 Function and Localization

• BMAL1 (ARNTL) is a basic helix-loop-helix PAS family transcription factor that forms a core component of the circadian clock. It heterodimerizes with CLOCK or NPAS2 to drive the expression of clock genes and clock-controlled genes through E-box elements, regulating daily physiological rhythms.
