Biological Background: ASGR1 Function and Localization

• ASGR1 (Asialoglycoprotein receptor 1), also known as hepatic lectin H1 (HL-1) and CLEC4H1, belongs to the C-type lectin family. It is a transmembrane protein predominantly expressed on hepatocytes.
• Functions as a key endocytic receptor: specifically binds terminal galactose and N-acetylgalactosamine residues on desialylated glycoproteins, mediating their clearance from circulation.
