Biological Background: APOBEC3D Function and Localization

• APOBEC3D (A3D) is a DNA cytidine deaminase belonging to the APOBEC3 family, characterized by its zinc-dependent deaminase domain and activity on single-stranded DNA.

• By deaminating cytosine to uracil in minus-strand viral DNA, it induces G-to-A hypermutations in the proviral genome, disrupting viral infectivity.
