Biological Background: ALOX12B Function and Localization
- ALOX12B (ARCI2, 12R-LOX) is an arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase, 12R-type, also known as epidermis-type lipoxygenase 12, belonging to the lipoxygenase family.
- Catalyzes the regio- and stereo-specific incorporation of molecular oxygen into free and esterified polyunsaturated fatty acids to generate lipid hydroperoxides, which are subsequently reduced to hydroxy derivatives.
