- Agrin is a large heparan sulfate proteoglycan that exists as multiple isoforms generated by alternative splicing, with secreted and transmembrane forms playing distinct roles in neuromuscular junction (NMJ) formation, synaptic differentiation, and neurite outgrowth.

- For Western blot, the predicted molecular weight of full-length agrin is ~217 kDa; however, proteolytic processing produces smaller fragments (e.g., C‑terminal 22 kDa, N‑terminal 110 kDa). Take this into account when interpreting band patterns.
- In IF/ICC, agrin localizes to the cell surface, extracellular matrix, and synapses; consider using permeabilization conditions optimized for membrane-associated proteins and include appropriate controls.
- This antibody is suitable for ELISA applications; validate linearity and sensitivity with recombinant agrin or relevant tissue lysates.
