  • ADAM12, also known as Meltrin-alpha, is a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) family of proteins.
  • It plays a key role in skeletal muscle regeneration by promoting cell fusion at the onset of myoblast fusion.
  • ADAM12 contributes to the formation of macrophage-derived giant cells and osteoclasts from mononuclear precursors.
