- ACY1 (Aminoacylase-1), also known as N-acyl-L-amino-acid amidohydrolase, primarily hydrolyzes N-acetylated and N-formylated amino acids into free amino acids and carboxylate.
- It may sequentially cooperate with APEH in the degradation of N-acylated peptides: APEH releases N-acylamino acids, which are then cleaved by ACY1.
- The enzyme localizes to the cytoplasm.
